El Proceso

Directed by Gustavo Giron-Rodriguez

Performed by Jasmine Alcala and Jorge Aldaco

El Proceso is a performance piece told through body movement, projections, and sound.

The purpose of this piece is to share what it is like to be an undocumented dreamer. Although, this piece only gets the audience’s feet wet in understanding why families migrate in search of a better future. The main message for this piece is to understand that everyone has a story behind them, and that often families take on drastic decisions (such as migrating to a different country) in search of a brighter future. Every story has two sides.  We have heard the former 45th President side calling dreamers “rapists”, “thugs”, and “thieves”. This piece gives the audience the opportunity to experience the story of the DREAMER, and allows the viewer to see a sliver of what it’s really like to be a complete stranger in a new country fighting to make their dreams come true. The motivational aspect for this piece shows that when there's a will there's a way.

Duration: 5-6 minutes
